My Travels: African Safari in The Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater (Tanzania)

Military like personal with what looked like AK-47. They are trained to protect the animals within the Ngorongoro Crater from poachers. Saw the Big Five - Saw cheetah kill gazelle, was with her baby, in the wild they eat about every 3 days. Lion in picture below just lost a fight and was kicked out of his pride.

One of our campsites while in the Serengeti.  We had mechanical toilets in each tent.  When we wanted a shower, we alerted them about 30minutes before, so they could warm the water for us.  We had to be escorted to/from our tents to the dining tent.  At night we could hear animals fights, elephants, etc.  It was AMAZING and a bit scary to hear all the animals sounds at night.

We came across this lion, who had a fresh facial wound.  Our guide told us that most likely, he recently lost a fight and was kicked out of his pride.  He will remain alone until he dies.  Our hearts broke for him.  He looked heartbroken, sad and dejected.

These curious monkeys may look innocent but they sure are feisty!  They've been known to get into cars by going through open windows, opening car doors, etc. all in an effort to get food.  They'll steal your hat, tug on your clothes.  Nothing is off limits to these guys.

Who doesn't love a baby elephant!  But watch out for Momma Elephant!

An beautiful day at the Ngorongoro Crater.  Soldiers carrying what looks to be AK-47s, protect the perimeter of this crater.  If any poaching is suspected, they are permitted to shoot poachers.
